Requirement, Eligibility, and Selection Criteria for 3rd Edition of SHEIKH ZAYED TCAM International AWARD FOR UAE Practitioners

  • A letter of nomination for yourself from Academic, University, Hospital, and Register Centers for Health. A one-page (not exceeding 350 words) synopsis of your CV and major achievements in MS Word format including publications.
  • A list of your nominated works and a copy of each. Please note that nominated works must not exceed 10 published Journal articles and 5 books or book chapters. (in MS Word format), in the field of complementary Medicine to improve the quality of life as an integrative approach or Evidence-based research.
  • Highlight the expertise in the Award field and impact in 350 words
  • A high-resolution recent photo (Passport Size) of yourself (in jpg format) with a white background.
  • A high-resolution copy of your passport.
  1. Nominee must have a recognized Bachelor’s degree in any discipline of TCAM; (M.D/Ph.D. and higher qualifications will be preferred);
  2. Valid License/Registration from Ministry of Health& Prevention, UAE(MOHP)/Dubai Health Authority (DHA)/Department of Health(DOH), Abu Dhabi;
  3. Valid Good Standing Certificate issued by the licensing authority.
  4. The nominee must be practicing in the UAE for not less than 10 years.
  5. A nominee must demonstrate valuable service that has improved the quality of healthcare for society in the UAE.

Immunity and Mental Health will be main selected areas.

These awards seek to highlight the outstanding work in four main areas that support the Medical Practice (Core Values):
  • Clinical Excellence and Innovation
  • Superior Service
  • Reliable & Safety
  • Cost Effectiveness
Besides the above core values, the selection criteria are fivefold :
  1. Technical competence
  2. Personal Integrity
  3. Doctor-patient dialogue
  4. Active engagement of friends and family
  5. Ability to function well as part of a care team
Six different methods of evaluating performance will be observed to be taken care of and submitted by the nominee:
  1. Simulated Patient
  2. Video Observation;
  3. Direct Observation;
  4. Peer Assessment;
  5. audit of medical records, and
  6. portfolio and/or appraisal.
Nominations must be submitted by a designated Head of the Institution/Hospital. All nominations will be required to provide the following:
  1. A cover letter with basic information identifying the nominator and nominee; The nomination letter should begin with a concise opening statement that briefly states why the nominee deserves this award. The statement should clearly outline the contributions the nominee has made and how his / her efforts have been helpful to the community
  2. A current CV or similar biographical sketch of the nominee;
  3. Brief (200-500 words) of the nominee’s excellence in each areas of:
    • Technical Competence
    • Personal Integrity
    • Active Engagement of Family and Friends
    • Doctor-Patient Dialogue
    • Team Work
    • Summary
Some additional positive achievements should be described by the nominator:

Exemplary commitment to patients near the end of life through their doctoring, their research, and/or their service to the community: Safe, Effective, Patient-centered, Timely, Efficient, and Equitable.
